1. How long have you been playing poker?
5 years

2. How long have you been playing poker online?
5 years

3. Do you prefer playing online or live? Does playing both help your game?
Prefer live more! Both helps your game because online allows you to experience playing a vast majority of hands in different ways in a much shorter time span, whereby live play gives a much more personal approach and a better chance of reading your opponents play and in my opinion has a higher skill value involved.

4. Where did you learn how to play?
I learnt to play mainly online.

5. When did you start playing professionaly and what made you go down this road?
I started playing professionally in Feb 2005. This was largely prompted by personal circumstances and that realisation of my ability to make money from the game, which also coincided with me qualifying for my first major live event via an online satellite for the wpt shooting stars in California.

6. What is your style of play?
My style of play depends very much on the circumstances I’m faced with for example live or online play and the value of the tournament will always play a part according to your game but generally speaking I’m probably airing on the aggressive side, testing my opponent’s values.

7. What are your strengths as a player?
My main strengths as a player would be my ability to concentrate over long periods of time and my ability to read players and situations through often small details.

8. Are you good at reading peoples tells?
I feel I am good at reading tells and history tells me the same.

9. Tell me about some of the keys hands that your remember or big decisions you had to make:
Key hands that I recall would be many but two that spring to mind was in my first major live wpt event where I was dealt pocket 8’s I had a 3 times raise in front of me before the flop and called the flop hit 6,7,9 and my opponent went all in for 28,000 I had around the same chips and after much deliberation I thought I was behind and had a feeling for him having pocket Jacks but felt my card was coming and the flop was calling me, after calling time I decided to dance and my 10 hit on the turn and he turned over pocket Jacks!! Was a great feeling reading everything right I had two pro’s at the table who after acknowledged the play and my read as I expressed to the table before I called I felt jacks and my run was coming. The second was against Erik Lungrend in the same event at the end of day one, I was dealt the pocket rockets and he raised in front of me at that point I put on the best acting display of my life, playing dumb and naive so I flat called after much fuss and the flop came Q high I had a feeling he hit his queen and I let him dive in which he did I grimaced in front of him slightly, knowing he was watching me closely and flat called turn hit low and I checked and he pushed all in at that point I looked at him and smiled, then called he turned over AQ and thumped the table when he saw my hand and got up to shake my hand and tell me that was excellent trapping and coming from him spurned me on for the rest of the tournament which I eventually ended up finishing in the money.

10. What is your biggest poker accomplishment?
Biggest poker accomplishment would be split between finishing in the money in my first wpt and winning the P****Stars Sunday guaranteed tournament winning $70,000 when it was 300,000 prize pool.

11. Who is your favorite poker player and what players do you look up to?
My favourite player is probably Gus Hansen, as I fronted him live in two tournaments and he is a nightmare to read and very aggressive. There are many great players I look up to but if I had to pick a few then Gus obviously, Daniel Negranu and Phil Ivey are very cool customers.

12. What do you think ‘luck’ in poker means?
Luck! In poker to me means when you’re a 80%+ underdog and you catch! But will always be an integral part of the game so get used to it!

13. Do you play poker mainly for the money, entertainment or for the challenge?
All three but I’ve always enjoyed the challenge the most!

14. Do you think about the game after you finish, what you had done and try to discover ways to improve?
Always, spent many a sleepless night deliberating mistakes and what I could have done different and try to learn by it!

15. It sounds very glamorous to actually play poker professionally. What does it really mean to you?
It can be very glamorous and the inclusion of television has encouraged this notion, however the reality is a very frustrating and at times soul destroying not to mention a very lonely lifestyle, but I would not change my experience doing this for nothing.

16. What has been your biggest month, as well as your toughest month?
Biggest month would be winning over 96,000 usd and toughest would be loosing 11,000 usd with no final table appearance.

17. Is there such a thing as a typical day for you?
Not really every day is different the only thing that remains the same is the dedication and hard work and often long hours.

18. What do you think about US government banning online poker?
In a word MUPPETS

19. Has it affected you?
Yes it affected me in a few ways the main one being the overindulgence of players infesting the main site I play on (P****Stars) largely from that awful site party poker as the numbers trebled over night and the standard of play dropped dramatically overnight making it a real mine field.

20. Do you have any forecast for poker in future?
My only forecast is the game is only bound to grow further with the young generation being taken in by the glamour of tv and the allure of so called easy money.

21. Any tips for players just starting out?
the main criteria I would say is learn the game well first and keep track properly of how much you spend to how much you win, also patients is key if you have little don’t even bother starting, Have a decent bankroll to start and manage it carefully and above all be honest with yourself, especially with the above!
